5 Tips for Organizing your Pantry

Pantries are an important part of any kitchen, and they come in all shapes and sizes. They can be big, small, walk-in, drawers, shelves, roll-out compartments... the list goes on. But how to make the most of your pantry is all about organization. Not only will having an organized pantry make cooking dinner easier but it will save you buying groceries you all ready have hidden among the mess. We hope these tips will help make your life a little easier so you can always find what you need.

Take Out Everything

The first step would be to take everything out and put it on the table so you can sort as you go and see everything clearly. Once the pantry is empty it’s a good idea to give the shelves a good clean. Once that’s done check for any expired foods then re add them to your grocery list so your not without your essential foods.

Sort into Categories

Now that you’re able to see everything sort things into categories, put baking goods together, cereals together, cans and jars together, etc. This enables you to see what you have and makes the de-cluttering and organizing process much quicker.

Use Clear Modular Containers

To make the most of your pantry space and keep food fresher longer use clear containers to store all your food items. Pick containers that stack well and are large enough so you don't end up with half bags of food that won't fit in. Label your containers so you know what's inside.

Use Additional Storage

For items that don’t need containers use baskets, tubs, or stands to maximize space and visibility in your pantry. Cans are also great on tiered shelves, meal packets are easy to grab in baskets, and having a grocery bag holder will also help to keep things organized.

Set Up for Everyday Use

When deciding where to put everything a good thing to remember is to keep items you use regularly at eye level and items you use less often higher up. We also suggest keeping baskets and tubs lower down so everyone in your family can see what’s available.
