How to Jazz Up a Neutral Kitchen

Neutral kitchens have been a very big design trend in kitchen renovations. People love a cohesive look, and a neutral kitchen usually contains white, wood, or gray cabinets. Neutral colors is a popular choice for walls, back-splashes and countertops. Sometimes having all those plain colors can make a space seem boring. So if you find a neutral kitchen too boring or you’ve been living with one and want to spruce it up, this post is for you!

There are plenty of ways to spruce up a dull kitchen, and we hope these ideas gets your creative juices flowing. The first idea is the most common one, and is seen a lot in contemporary kitchen designs. Adding a patterned tile wall can make the whole kitchen come alive. It will give it color, personality, and adds a nice feature to your kitchen. In the photo below you can see how the patterned tile really brings out the the countertops and dramatic wood beams. This could easily be a do-it-yourself project, and can really give any age kitchen new potential.

A patterned tile can have many functions and be used as more than just a back splash on your kitchen wall, it could also be the feature piece on the kitchen island. It adds a special touch without being too overbearing. A little design tip when going with a patterned tile is to keep decorative shapes to a minimum so it doesn’t clash with your tile.

This next design tip is probably the easiest one, and it doesn’t require much effort. It's just hanging a piece of art in your kitchen. Although it is very simple it can really transform a space. Most people overlook hanging a piece of art in the kitchen, and as a place where people send a lot of time a piece of art can make a wonderful backdrop! It also doesn’t just have to one big picture, it can be a small gallery of pictures. A tip for protecting your art in the kitchen would be adding a frame (if appropriate), or hanging it away from the stove or any water source.

Wallpaper is another a budget friendly way to add depth to a neutral kitchen. Traditional floral Wallpaper can add visual interest to a kitchen and there are so many different colors and patterns to choose from. When choosing a wallpaper be sure to get a vinyl or wipeable material to make cleaning less of a hassle. As with art, it is recommended to keep wallpaper away from the stove top and water sources to prevent fire hazards or mildew.

The final design idea to spruce up a neutral kitchen, is something that may seem subtle, but picking the right lighting piece can be a really nice design element in a kitchen. Whether it’s one light over the island or several throughout the kitchen, a unique light fixture will stand out in your neutral kitchen. If you wanted to take it a step further and create a more cohesive look in your kitchen, match the statement light fixture with other accent elements in your kitchen.

All of these tips were designed to help create a more beautiful space for people to enjoy. The kitchen shouldn’t be a boring or dull place but should reflect the personality of those who live in it!
