D.I.Y. Ideas For Your Kitchen

Updated: Jun 27, 2019

Remodeling your kitchen can be expensive, and some people spend upwards of $50,000 on a renovation. If you don’t have that much to spend on a new kitchen you'll have to get a little creative with your renovation. To add a fresh look to any space you don’t necessarily need to start from scratch and gut your entire kitchen. Small changes can oftentimes make a big difference, and doing it yourself can save you a lot on costs. Here are some of the biggest changes you can make to your kitchen for $100 or less.

Replace the Faucet

Outdated or water stained faucets can make a kitchen look worn out. A quick and easy fix can be to replace it with new sleek or traditional faucet. This project can be done on your own with a wrench and some directions!

Change the Curtains

Curtains in a kitchen can pick up smells and become discolored. An quick fix can be to change them, and if you really want to make your kitchen stand out, then go for a bold pattern or color on the curtains. You also don’t have to limit yourself to what is in department stores, and can save even more by creating your own.

Repaint

This D.I.Y. idea does not have to only be for your kitchen, repainting can bring new life to any room in your house. Paint is another thing that can get discolored over time, and a fresh coat can give your kitchen a new life. If you don’t want to completely change the color, go one shade darker and you won’t have to use primer.

Change the Lighting

Most people may find electrical work scary, but by changing your light fixture it can really change the whole feel of your kitchen. In most cases you can even do it yourself, just follow the directions and remember to turn the main power off!

Add a Floating Island

This next idea is only useful if you have the space for it. It might also go over the $100 or less category, but for just a few hundred dollars you can have a great looking island for your kitchen. If it doesn’t match your current decor, repainting or sanding the island can be a solution. Again this tip works best in larger kitchens and can completely transform the space!
